MGA Licence

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) is one of the most respected gambling regulators in the world. A casino holding an MGA licence has passed rigorous checks on financial stability, game fairness, data protection, responsible gambling measures, and anti-money laundering compliance. The MGA actively monitors its licensees and has revoked or suspended licences from operators that fail to comply.

For players, an MGA licence means several concrete protections. Your funds must be kept in segregated accounts separate from the casino's operating funds. Games must be tested and certified by approved labs. The casino must offer deposit limits, cooling-off periods, and self-exclusion tools. And if you have a dispute, the MGA provides a formal complaint process with real enforcement power.

The MGA isn't perfect. Some questionable operators still hold MGA licences, and enforcement can be slow. But compared to a Curacao licence, which provides almost no player protection, an MGA licence is in a different league. If you're choosing between two casinos and one has an MGA licence, that's a meaningful point in its favour.
