RTP (Return to Player)

RTP stands for Return to Player and it's expressed as a percentage. A slot with 96.5% RTP will, on average, return $96.50 for every $100 wagered over millions of spins. The remaining 3.5% is the house edge.

Two things to keep in mind. First, RTP is calculated over an enormous sample size. You might play 500 spins and end up anywhere between broke and tripling your bankroll. The number only stabilises after millions of rounds. Second, RTP doesn't tell you anything about how winnings are distributed. A 96% slot could pay out small wins constantly or save everything for one massive hit.

Most modern video slots sit between 95% and 97%. Anything below 94% is poor value. Anything above 97% is genuinely player-friendly, and those games tend to come from providers like NetEnt, Pragmatic Play, and Nolimit City. Always check the RTP in the game's paytable or info screen before you start spinning.
