Fish Eye Slot Review
Submerged Perspective
Fish Eye is the most visually ambitious fishing slot Pragmatic Play has released. The underwater perspective shifts from the above-water fishing boat view to a submerged camera angle looking up through the water surface. Fish swim across the reels from both directions. Light rays filter through the water. Entire visual identity separates Fish Eye from everything else in the Big Bass family, even though the core mechanic remains fisherman-collects-money at its foundation.
Base Game
Still 5x3, still 10 paylines, but the underwater perspective makes the grid feel different. Fish symbols are rendered from below, creating an unusual viewing angle that takes a few spins to adjust to. The fisherman appears diving down from above, hook first, scooping money-tagged fish. The animation quality is a step above the rest of the series, with fluid underwater movement instead of the static reel-spinning the other entries use.
Passive Collection
The enhanced fish collect mechanic is the main upgrade. Certain fish carry persistent values that increase when they are not collected on a given spin. A fish worth 2x on spin one might be worth 5x on spin three if no fisherman has caught it yet. The growing values create a pressure-and-release dynamic: you want the fisherman to appear when the fish values are peaking, not when they have just refreshed to minimum amounts.
Free Spins
I played 500 spins, triggering the bonus five times. The growing fish values added a visible tension to each bonus spin that I have not felt in other Big Bass entries. Watching a fish symbol climb from 2x to 8x across four spins without a fisherman appearing creates anticipation that static money values can not produce. When the fisherman finally landed alongside three high value fish, the collection felt earned rather than random.
Timing Dependent Variance
Bonus payouts: 11x, 38x, 127x, 289x, and 534x. The 534x came from a round where two fish grew to maximum values before the fisherman arrived with a multiplier. A 11x came from a round where the fisherman appeared immediately on spin one, collecting minimum-value fish before they had time to grow. Timing within the bonus determines everything. Early fisherman arrival = low payout. Late fisherman arrival with accumulated fish values = big payout. The trade-off is that waiting for fish to grow means risking the bonus ending before the fisherman shows up at all.
Top End
The 10,000x max win requires maximum fish growth combined with a multiplier fisherman collection on the final spins. Bonus buy at 100x provides the entry point. 96.07% RTP and high volatility match the recent series standard.
Visuals
The underwater visual style deserves its own mention. After 12 fishing-themed slots looking at the same lake from above, the perspective change is refreshing. Light refraction effects on the symbols, bubbling ambient sound, and the upward-looking camera angle create a genuinely different atmosphere. Small detail: the fisherman's hook entering the water from above looks excellent, with realistic light scatter around the entry point.
Summary
Compared to Amazon Xtreme, which also modified how money values work through the piranha mechanic, Fish Eye takes the opposite approach. Amazon lets piranhas eat value to power up the fisherman. Fish Eye lets values grow passively and requires the fisherman to arrive at the right moment. Amazon is active disruption. Fish Eye is patient collection. Both reach similar payout ranges but through different emotional journeys. Fish Eye is Premium Big Bass. Higher production values, a twist on the money-growth mechanic, and the most distinctive visual identity in the family. If you play only two Big Bass slots, make them Splash for the classic experience and Fish Eye for the evolved version.
